Stockholm Vodou Orchestra plays new composed music described as West African beat and asphalt oozing jazz with a scent of classic composition and folk music with plenty of space for improvisation. The orchestra has played Krisitina Aspeqvists original music since... was it 1998?
2024 project was "Aurelia och Vodouorkestern" -in collaboration with dance hall/afrobeat, reggae and folkfusion artist Aurelia Dey. The music is being composed autumn 2023/beginning of 2024 and released on Rythm Works Records 27th of October 2024 with a release party at Pygmeteatern in Stockholm. More info here.
Lyrics on relevant topics, the music showcase a mix of
old and new. Focusing on identity, inner-self, spirituality
and humanity beyond skin colour. All set up in a
context inspired by traditional west african ceremonies.
Partly aspiring to reach young/teenage audience,
concerts were taken place 4th and 6th April 2024 at
Teater Reflex, Kärrtorp, Stockholm.
